SUMMARY:Deadline: Epic MegaGrants 2026 (Cycle 2)
DESCRIPTION:Epic MegaGrants are financial grants from Epic Games for creati
ve\, noteworthy and innovative projects built in and around Unreal Engine\
, or projects that enhance the open source 3D graphics ecosystem. Over 2\,
000 grants have been awarded to date. The programme is explicitly aimed at
smaller teams\, solo developers and individuals as well as studios: Epic
states that individuals and small teams are eligible and encouraged\, and
that it treats every project equally regardless of who you are. WHAT IS FU
NDED: (1) INDIE GAMES\, small or solo teams working in Unreal Engine\, sub
mitted past the idea and design phase with at least some working prototype
 \, ideally with a video link\; (2) UEFN EXPERIENCES\, Fortnite Creative is
lands and interactive experiences built in Unreal Editor for Fortnite\; (3
) ENGINE MIGRATION\, a proportion of MegaGrants is reserved for teams movi
ng a partially developed project from another engine to Unreal\; (4) FILM\
, TV AND LIVE EVENTS\, including live-action and animated films and shows\
 , broadcast\, live and location-based events\; (5) OTHER NON-GAMES VERTICA
 LS such as architecture\, automotive\, manufacturing\, simulation\, produc
t design\, advertising and VR/AR\, where more detailed project plans and p
 rototypes are expected\; (6) EDUCATION\, including research\, curricula an
d course development and university programmes\, though for institutions E
pic accepts submissions only from degree-granting schools and educators at
such schools\; (7) TOOLS AND OPEN SOURCE\, creating open source tools or
enhancing open source software using Unreal Engine. NON-UNREAL PROJECTS AR
E ELIGIBLE if you want to move them to Unreal Engine\, or if the project e
nhances open source 3D content creation whether or not it relates to Unrea
l Engine. EVALUATION rests on three things: quality and unique appeal (hig
 h-quality demos or builds\, well-documented descriptions\, technical ambit
ion)\; community benefit (how you will give back\, for example open-sourci
ng the project\, releasing assets through a marketplace\, sharing learning
s\, or shipping an SDK\, tool or plug-in)\; and viability (a clear budget
with major spend areas and a project plan with milestones\, deliverables a
nd timeline). NOTE ON DEADLINES: the FAQ still describes MegaGrants as an
ongoing programme with no specific deadline\, but the timeline published o
n the same page now runs in fixed cycles\, and the Cycle 2 submission wind
ow closes 4 September 2026 at 23:59 ET. Treat the cycle date as the operat
ive deadline. You may apply for more than one project\, and may reapply fo
r the same project after a decision if you have made updates. Epic is not
offering sponsorships and cannot give feedback on applications. Apply at m
 egagrants.unrealengine.com.\n\nOrganisation: Epic Games\nLocation: Open wo
rldwide. Epic states that if it can legally make payment to you\, you are
eligible.\nAward: Typical grants range from USD 5\,000 to USD 75\,000\, wi
th some exceptional projects receiving up to USD 150\,000. Epic states tha
t recipients continue to own their IP and may publish it however they wish
\, so this is a grant rather than an investment or equity deal. Grants up
to and including USD 25\,000 may be paid in a single instalment\; larger g
rants are paid across several instalments tied to continued progress. Fund
s are for project and team expenses such as development and hiring\; hardw
are purchases or rentals are approved only occasionally\, case by case. No
  application fee.\nDuration: Cycle 2 of 2026 runs 29 June to 11 December 2
 026. Submission window 29 June to 4 September 2026 (closes 23:59 ET)\, rev
 iew 5 September to 4 December 2026\, notices 7 to 11 December 2026. Cycle
 1 ran 12 January to 19 June 2026.\n\nMore: https://www.unrealengine.com/me
