  1. Design Trust Seed, Feature & Impact Grants (Hong Kong / Greater Bay Area)

Design Trust · Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. Open to applicants based in the region or seeking support for design projects related to it, including international applicants. · Deadline: 20 Oct 2026 · Award: Seed Grant: HKD 50,000. Feature Grant: capped at HKD 300,000, awarded annually upon special consideration. Impact Grant: case-by-case, for former grantees. Full or partial funding on a case-by-case basis. Free to apply.

Design Trust offers grants to individual designers, curators, collectives, and non-profit organisations for projects and activities relevant to various design disciplines, supporting work relevant to the context and content of Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area (the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao and the nine Guangdong municipalities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, and Zhaoqing). It supports innovative, thought-provoking investigations across design disciplines from graphics, media, and wearables to architecture and the built environment, including exhibitions, research projects, and creative installations that advocate the positive role of design in the region. THREE GRANTS: (1) SEED GRANT (HKD 50,000) fosters experimentation, testing, and sharing, awarded to individuals kick-starting a meaningful project with social, educational, economical, or environmental impact; supports emerging designers, young scholars, and projects in the pipeline needing additional resources, including research and prototypes focused on Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area issues to be showcased at international venues, symposia, or biennales. (2) FEATURE GRANT (capped at HKD 300,000, awarded annually upon special consideration) fosters cross-disciplinary projects on the Greater Bay Area with wide-reaching audiences, often sited at an exhibition or biennale of international standing, supporting exchange between a Hong Kong/China-based collective and an internationally renowned cultural institution. (3) IMPACT GRANT supports public-facing, community-based projects led by former Design Trust grant recipients, fellows, and mentees with a proven track record; considered case-by-case (contact grantapplication@designtrust.hk). ELIGIBILITY: individuals, collectives, and certified non-profit organisations either based in the Greater Bay Area or seeking support for design projects related to the region. Individuals or collectives who have completed two Feature Grants or three Seed Grants should apply for the Impact Grant instead. APPLICATION: two cycles annually, deadlines 20 April and 20 October (late submissions roll to the next cycle); apply at least 3 to 6 months before the project's commencement. Design Trust may provide full or partial funding on a case-by-case basis.

  2. Creative Industries Fund NL: Residency Videotage 2027 (Hong Kong)

Creative Industries Fund NL (Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie), with Videotage · Hong Kong (Videotage premises). Only for applicants established in the Netherlands, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Saba, Sint Eustatius or Sint Maarten and registered with a Kingdom of the Netherlands business register (KvK). · Deadline: 21 Oct 2026 · Award: One residency grant: EUR 5,000 for a two-month work period or EUR 6,500 for three months, covering travel, insurance, living expenses, compensation for time invested, and material and transport costs. The Creative Industries Fund NL offers one residency at Videotage, the Hong Kong media art institute (est. 1986) known for critical work on XR, AI, blockchain and video games. The 2027 edition takes the technological 'black box' phenomenon as its starting point: deep neural networks now shape social media, healthcare, finance, governance and justice while their inner workings remain hard to grasp, and the resident is invited to explore this through media art in Hong Kong's urban context. WHO: an individual designer, maker or observer within digital culture, established in the Netherlands or the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom, registered with the KvK (or another Kingdom business register), with at least four years of professional practice. NOT for duos, collectives, or recipients of CIFNL Talent Development, Self-taught Designer or Emerging Design Practices ABCSSS grants during the work period (winning this excludes applying to those schemes in 2027). SUPPORT: EUR 5,000 (two months) or EUR 6,500 (three months) for travel, insurance, living costs, time and materials; housing, workspace, curatorial guidance and production costs are paid directly to Videotage; accommodation arranged by Videotage; access to equipment and the Videotage Media Art Collection archive. SELECTION: tender-style ranking by an external advisory committee on artistic quality, project quality and motivation; the top five proposals go to Videotage, which co-decides; decision within eight weeks of closing. APPLY via the Fund's application platform (aanvragen.stimuleringsfonds.nl), round 'Open Call Residencies 2027', preferably in English: work plan (max 4 A4 / 4 MB PDF), brief CV (max 2 A4), portfolio (max 8 A4 / 8 MB), certified KvK extract under one year old, and a representative JPG image.
