The Mar del Plata International Film Festival is the only FIAPF A-list competitive festival in Latin America. The 41st edition accepts international entries across all genres for its International and Latin American competitions, the In Transit work-in-progress section, and Panorama. Films must be completed between November 2025 and November 2026 and not previously publicly screened in Argentina. Extended deadline 15 July 2026; submissions via the INCAA portal.
Ambulante's Gira de Documentales tours documentary cinema across Mexico each spring. Entry is free; Mexican documentaries are prioritized, and the Pulsos section accepts non-Mexican productions shot in or about Mexico. CALL NOT YET OPEN: the 2026 call closed 22 September 2025, so the 2027 call should open around August 2026 with a September 2026 deadline.
The Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG), run by the University of Guadalajara, is one of Latin America's most important festivals, with a primarily Ibero-American competition focus (some sections accept wider entries; check category eligibility). CALL NOT YET OPEN: FICG 42 submissions are expected September to December 2026.
The Cartagena International Film Festival (FICCI) is the oldest film festival in Latin America. CALL NOT YET OPEN: the FICCI 65 call closed 8 December 2025; the FICCI 66 call should open in the second half of 2026 with a deadline around December 2026. The previous cycle offered a USD 100,000 prize pool.
