Short film competition from Day Job Films created to give auteur directors full creative freedom, awarding a production budget of up to GBP 7,000 to make a short film with no producer interference or commercial agenda. Open to animation, live-action and documentary projects. Runs in three rounds: (1) a pitch deck outlining concept, story, key characters and visual style; (2) a full script for those who progress; and (3) an interview to discuss the vision and execution. A panel of industry professionals judges the pitch deck, script and interview, with at least one team member reading each pitch deck and script in full. The winner receives full creative control over the project. ELIGIBILITY: applicants can be from anywhere worldwide, but all production must take place in the UK; applicants must have a producer on board who is separate from the director/writer. The Bloomberg Green Docs competition is open to all eligible filmmakers competing for a $25,000 grand prize for a short climate documentary. The call seeks films that explore our climate future and reveal the world we are making today: ecosystems being restored, tomorrow's zero-carbon communities being formed, and habitat extremes warning of cascading climate consequences. REQUIREMENTS: films must address the urgency of climate change and run under 10 minutes including credits. The jury awards a $25,000 grand prize, announced at the Bloomberg Green Docs Film Festival in New York City on 22 September 2026, where the top five documentaries will be screened. A one-year award enabling an emerging Indian visual artist to pursue independent practice, with a stipulation to attend a recognised art residency programme in India for four weeks during the year. ELIGIBILITY IS RESTRICTED: Indian citizens currently living in India, born on or after 1 January 1996, who are either recent graduates, postgraduates or final-year students of a leading Indian visual arts institute, or artists without those formal credentials but with a record of exhibition participation. First-year MA students are not eligible. Awardees submit progress reports at six months and on completion, plus documentation of the residency. A skill-enhancement award for emerging Indian theatre practitioners, supporting participation in recognised training workshops, residencies and similar programmes rather than the production of a specific work. ELIGIBILITY IS RESTRICTED: Indian citizens born after 1 January 1991, with preference given to holders of a theatre degree from a leading Indian institution. Future Vision XPRIZE is a sci-fi film competition challenging filmmakers to portray an optimistic, abundant future for humanity rather than a dystopian one. CHALLENGE: create a 3-minute sci-fi trailer that depicts a bold, original, hopeful vision of progress. PRIZES: USD 3.5 million-plus total; the grand prize winner gets USD 2.6 million-plus to turn their trailer into a feature film, plus over USD 1 million in prizes for runners-up. BACKGROUND: launched by the nonprofit XPRIZE and funded by Peter Diamandis, with Google and Range as partners; inspired by the optimism of Star Trek and intended to give storytellers a hopeful 'north star' for builders. NEW FEARS is a Berlin gallery set up as a hybrid space for artists working across choreography and visual art, with a focus on body-based practice, and this award extends that to artists working outside conventional theatre and institutional structures. A jury of Bryana Fritz, Jacopo Lanteri and Burcu Bilgic shortlists six projects, each of which performs live at the gallery on 16 or 17 October 2026; three winners are then chosen and celebrated at Panke Club on 18 October. The application is unusually light: name, email, an optional text of up to 500 words about your work, and up to six links to video documentation with passwords where needed. No CV, no written proposal, no budget, which means the video documentation carries the whole application, so lead with work that shows immediately how it operates live in a gallery. ELIGIBILITY: Berlin-based artists, duos and groups working across performance, choreography, visual art or body-based practice. You must be in Berlin for setup the week before and for the presentations on 16-17 October 2026, and be able to issue an invoice for the award payment. Annual essay competition from the Berggruen Institute, a companion to the Berggruen Prize for Philosophy & Culture, seeking new thinking and cross-cultural perspectives on fundamental philosophical questions of significance for contemporary life and the future. It looks for essays in the tradition of Rousseau, Montaigne, and Emerson (models cited include Frankfurt, Nagel, Sontag, Fukuyama, and recent Noema pieces), not peer-reviewed academic work: novel ideas, clearly argued in compelling ways for intellectually serious readers. THEME for 2026: 'A New Axial Age?' Referencing Karl Jaspers's Axial Age (c. 800-200 BCE), the prompt asks whether civilisation is again at a 'hinge of history' undergoing a pivotal transformation of consciousness driven by rapid technological change and its social, economic, and political consequences. The Fondation Francois Schneider's Contemporary Talents competition, themed The Earth for this edition, awards EUR 15,000 per laureate (including acquisition of the work; EUR 8,000 for editioned works) plus an exhibition at the foundation's centre in Wattwiller. ELIGIBILITY: professional artists internationally, in SCULPTURE AND INSTALLATION only (video or digital work alone does not qualify). NOTE: the 23 August 2026 deadline is from a listing site; the organizer page only states the call runs June to August, so verify the exact date before applying.
Eighth edition of RTM Pitch, IFFR's open call for Rotterdam film talent. Submit a plan for a film between 5 and 20 minutes long; a jury of film experts and IFFR programmers selects one filmmaker to receive EUR 25,000 to realise the film (with coaching and an IFFR 2028 premiere) and a runner-up to receive a EUR 5,000 development budget co-funded by QISSA. All filmmakers are welcome; this edition especially encourages genre films (horror, science fiction, thriller, fantasy) that use genre conventions for a distinctive personal vision. Submit a written film plan (story, setting, team, budget and financing, cinematography vision, with optional supporting material) or a video pitch of no more than three minutes (Vimeo or YouTube link) via the application form. The Woodward/Newman Award, started with the support of Joanne Woodward, Newman's Own Foundation and the Newman family, is awarded annually by Constellation Stage & Screen to the best unpublished new play. The winner receives a USD 3,000 cash prize (in lieu of royalties) and a full production in the Mainstage season, with housing and transportation provided. The contest format and submission fees have been eliminated: submissions are reviewed on an ongoing basis and are also considered for all seven production slots in the season, including TYA (theatre for young audiences) shows. Full-length plays should run 75 to 135 minutes; TYA shows over 40 minutes. Plays must be unpublished at submission (independently published is acceptable); limit of two submissions per playwright per year; musicals may include demos. Plays submitted by midnight 31 August 2026 are considered for the 2027-28 season; later submissions roll to 2028-29. All submissions are kept on file for two years.
USD 10,000 prize from the Association for Mathematical Research for serious experimentation in how mathematicians communicate with one another, beyond the static PDF. Submissions should demonstrate communicative capabilities fundamentally unavailable in a linear paper: interactive exploration of parameter spaces in differential equations, dynamic visualisation of group actions or geometric structures, multi-perspective representations of algebraic or number-theoretic objects, nonlinear navigation of proof architectures or dependency graphs, embedded computation as part of exposition, or similar. ELIGIBILITY: no nationality, institutional or career restriction stated; the focus is mathematical depth and communicative innovation. This is NOT for popularisation, production polish or short-form video content - it is about novel research-to-research communication. EVALUATION CRITERIA: mathematical depth and rigor; conceptual insight enabled by the medium; communicative innovation beyond static exposition; scalability and reproducibility; transformative potential for research communication. The Premio Klemm is one of Argentina's longest-running visual arts prizes, now in its 29th edition, awarded by the Fundacion Federico Jorge Klemm in Buenos Aires. It is notable for a genuinely open definition of medium: the entry categories explicitly include arte digital, robotica, video, videoinstalacion, audio and fotografia alongside painting, drawing and sculpture, so technology-based practice is squarely in scope. Entrants submit one work dated 2021 or later, which must be durable rather than ephemeral. The top prizes are acquisition prizes, so winning work enters the foundation's collection. ELIGIBILITY IS RESTRICTED: Argentine nationals (native or naturalised) or foreigners holding at least two years of legal residence in Argentina, aged 18 or over. The Prisma Art Prize is an international award for painting and two-dimensional artistic research based in Rome. The 20th edition selects emerging and established artists working in painting, drawing, illustration, printmaking, and traditional mixed media for a group exhibition at Palazzo Merulana, opening November 5, 2026. Winners share an annual cash fund of EUR 2,000 distributed across quarterly calls and receive inclusion in the collective catalogue plus artist interviews. Additional opportunities include solo exhibition prizes and fully funded placements at partner art residencies. The Xposure International Photography Awards are free to enter and include a dedicated Drone Photography category alongside many others. The American Academy in Berlin is an independent, nonprofit institute for advanced study in the arts, humanities, social sciences, law, journalism and public policy, whose primary mission is to strengthen the cultural and intellectual ties between the United States and Germany. Each year, after a rigorous selection process, the Academy awards roughly two dozen semester-long Berlin Prize fellowships to individuals who demonstrate excellence in their fields. DISCIPLINES: applications are welcome across the humanities, social sciences, law, journalism and various areas of public policy. The Academy generally encourages projects addressing pressing issues of the day, specifically naming democracy, security, technology and society (especially AI), energy including climate, and global order. Dedicated fellowships also support projects in Jewish studies, German studies, and public health and biotechnology. Project proposals need not focus on Germany, but candidates should explain how a residency in Berlin would enhance their work. NOT ACCEPTED: proposals in mathematics or the natural sciences. The Foundwork Artist Prize is an annual juried award supporting outstanding artistic practices. The 2026 honoree receives an unrestricted USD 10,000 grant, studio visits with each of the five jurors, and an interview for Foundwork's Dialogues program. Annual prize from Gallery 1957 in Accra for women artists connected to Ghana and to Senegal, which joins the prize for the first time in 2026. The Earth Partner Prize is a global open call for young creatives making work about climate action and ecological justice, run by Earth Partner with the Global Environment Facility and Re:wild, and timed to amplify youth voices ahead of the UN climate conference in November 2026. IT IS NOT A PHOTOGRAPHY PRIZE: the call takes work across disciplines, and the organisers explicitly list photography projects, docu-style and experimental film, performance art, app development, spoken word, musical compositions, dance, fashion design, new media and social media projects.
