EXTRA, a Bordeaux association that publishes book-objects about space, invites proposals for a residency to create a book-object at the crossroads of architecture, publishing and pedagogy, hosted at Fabrique POLA in Bordeaux. Residents spend four weeks of research and creation between January and June 2027 and test the project with a public of their choosing (for example early childhood, school groups or older people). WHO: artists, architects, landscape architects, urban planners, graphic designers, authors and other professionals interested in questions of space; individual, duo or collective applications; no age limit and no stated geographic restriction, though the call is in French. The project must be unpublished and not already under a publishing contract, and applicants must be able to step away from other work during the residency periods. WHAT YOU GET: a EUR 6,000 bursary in three instalments (one bursary per project, even for collectives), up to EUR 500 for materials and up to EUR 1,000 for travel on receipts (sustainable transport preferred), accommodation for up to two people, a workspace at Fabrique POLA, support from EXTRA for the research and public experiments, a presentation at the venue, and possible publication of the book-object under a separate contract with EXTRA. Artistic research and creation residency 'A Living Valley: A Sensitive Evocation of the Herault Valley', run by Montpellier 2028 - Terres de culture and the Communaute de communes Vallee de l'Herault as part of L'Abbaye des Possibles, a project reimagining the former Aniane Abbey as a place for contemporary creation. The valley is approached as a living being, shaped by voices, silences, movements, memories and transformations. WHO: an artistic duo bringing together visual arts and musical/sound creation, or two complementary research projects; apply individually or as an established duo. No age limit, no geographical restriction. WORK: build a sensitive portrait of the valley through encounters with inhabitants, collecting stories and sounds, workshops and experimentation, drawing on local landscapes, villages, heritage and archives. TIMELINE: eight weeks (non-consecutive allowed) between January and April 2027; a first public presentation before the end of the 2026-2027 school year and a second in autumn 2027 as part of Event 27. The Fondation Francois Schneider's Talents Contemporains competition, in its 16th edition, supports contemporary creation on the theme of WATER. Submissions can be a project for an installation or sculpture, or an existing unique work in painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, photography, video, textile art or other fine and visual arts; performing arts and music are excluded. A Grand Jury (chaired by international museum figures) designates 4 to 7 laureates. WHAT YOU GET: EUR 15,000 per laureate as a merit prize and official acquisition of the artwork (EUR 8,000 for editioned works); installation and sculpture projects share up to EUR 50,000 in production assistance (existing works get no production budget); plus an exhibition at the foundation's centre in Wattwiller, a bilingual publication, inclusion in the collection and a video portrait. ELIGIBILITY: visual artists of all nationalities, of legal age, with a solid professional background and/or an art school degree and a recent continuous track record over the past five years (exhibitions, publications or residencies); one artwork or project per candidate per year. The 21st edition of Horizons Arts-Nature en Sancy, an open-air art exhibition in the Massif du Sancy (Auvergne, France) running 19 June to 26 September 2027. The Sancy Tourist Office commissions 10 ephemeral, site-specific plastic artworks made for the landscape, installed across the towns and villages of the Sancy community; each proposal must be an in situ installation in which work and site interact. Sites are chosen for their aesthetic and artistic qualities, diversity of locations and proximity to visitor access and facilities. Open to individual artists and groups or collectives. FEE: EUR 8,000 including all taxes per selected artist or group (EUR 6,500 artistic costs and EUR 1,500 royalties, recommended proportion), which includes travel costs; no separate production or accommodation budget is stated in the public listing, so check the regulations in the application portal. Germany's flagship residency awards for visual artists, architects, writers and composers, administered by the Kulturstiftung der Laender for the federal government. One application window covers the Rome Prize at Villa Massimo (10 months, EUR 3,000/month, international visibility expected), Casa Baldi in Olevano Romano (3 months, EUR 3,000/month), the Deutsches Studienzentrum in Venice (3 months, EUR 1,534/month) and a 6-month Paris residency (approx. EUR 1,500/month). Accommodation and studio are provided everywhere. ELIGIBILITY: German citizenship, or primary residence and artistic practice in Germany. France Culture and LaScam offer two EUR 5,000 grants (Brouillon d'un reve) to write a first creative audio documentary in the spirit of L'Experience, France Culture's strand of auteur sound documentaries. The target format is a 57'30 documentary for broadcast or a native podcast series with variable episode length. WHO: authors writing their first creative audio documentary, in French; reportage, news programmes and more classic documentaries are excluded. WHAT YOU GET: EUR 5,000 to fund the writing; production and inclusion in France Culture's output are decided separately afterwards by its Fictions et Creation department. APPLICATION: email bourses.documentaires@radiofrance.com with a 5-line summary (max 500 characters), the intended duration, a two-page PDF (statement of intent plus a note on the sound design), names, detailed CV and contact details, optional links to earlier work, and an IBAN. NewImages Festival, the Paris festival for XR and immersive creation, opens three competitions for its 2027 edition. XR COMPETITION: works completed in 2026 or 2027 in VR, AR, mixed reality, narrative video games and hybrid performances; Grand Prize EUR 6,000, Impact Award EUR 3,000; fee EUR 75 Early Bird / EUR 100 Last Call (individual talents EUR 45 / EUR 60). FULLDOME COMPETITION: native fulldome (360-degree projection) works completed after 2023; Dome Award EUR 3,000; same fees as the XR Competition. VIRTUAL WORLDS COMPETITION: social VR platforms, independent worlds, multiplayer art spaces and interactive installations in virtual environments; Virtual Worlds Award EUR 3,000; free to enter. No premiere status required for any competition. Selected works receive festival presentation, two accreditations and industry visibility. Separate Industry Days calls (XR Development Market with a EUR 1,000 Best Project Award, Immersive Art Fair, XR Partners, Industry Sessions) run on the same dates. Regional residency programme pairing an artist with an Ile-de-France venue for a creation residency in visual, digital or urban arts. The artist receives a bourse of EUR 2,400 gross per month for 2 to 10 months, and the venue receives support for its mediation programme around the residency. ELIGIBILITY: professional artists affiliated to the French artist social-security regime (in practice, artists working in France), applying jointly with the host venue. La Scam's Brouillon d'un reve Sonore category funds documentary, educational or informational audio works for radio or podcast: reportage, narrative, portrait, chronicle, interview and testimony. WHAT YOU GET: a development bourse of EUR 2,500 to EUR 6,000, paid directly to the author 4 to 5 weeks after contract signing. ELIGIBILITY: explicitly no age, residence or nationality restrictions, and open to non-members, though the application process and repertoire are in French. RULES: one application per year across all Brouillon d'un reve categories; the same project may be submitted at most twice; past laureates must wait three years before reapplying. APPLICATION: rolling, via the online form on the Scam site, with monthly consultation slots running September to July; contact brouillondunreve@scam.fr. The fund leans documentary rather than experimental radio art, but it is a solidly current cash fund for radio and podcast authorship.
Caza d'Oro is an international contemporary art centre and residency in Le Mas d'Azil, Ariège, that invites artists to research and make work in the area, with public activities, outreach and an exhibition of the work made during the stay. It offers three three-month residencies for visual artists each year, selected by committee. Artists selected for the following year are notified in July. No application fee is stated, and the published pages give no nationality, age or career-stage limits.
