Welcome to my Homepage is an international online residency hosted by The Museum of Human Achievement in Austin, Texas, offering artists a low-stakes opportunity to experiment, explore the web as a site for creative production, and reach new audiences with net art (artwork created on and experienced exclusively through the internet). Founded in 2014, it has hosted over 150 artists. THIS ROUND (Oulu Edition) is open only to applicants in the Oulu, Finland area, as a collaboration between the UNESCO Cities of Media Arts Oulu and Austin, and especially seeks proposals that consider digital culture from a northern perspective, bring an Arctic point of view, or take inspiration from the edges rather than the center. Selected residents (3 per cycle) receive a EUR 500 stipend, the mmm.page drag-and-drop web builder (no coding needed; hosting on your own domain is also fine), virtual studio visits, mentor conversations and promotion. Projects are shown online at welcometomyhomepage.net and in person at pop-up exhibitions alongside 3 Austin artists at the Frozen People Festival in Oulu and at MoHA in Austin. WHO IT IS FOR: all types of creative folks, no coding necessary and no need to be a net or digital artist (past residents include performers, poets, puppeteers, filmmakers, healthcare workers and musicians); the programme especially welcomes people who have not had an opportunity like this before, would benefit from a flexible online residency, or want time to experiment. Collectives can apply via a primary contact. NOT ELIGIBLE: applicants outside the Oulu area (this round only), under-18s, undergrad or grad students enrolled in an art, design or media programme during the residency, and full-time university faculty in such programmes. Jurors look for thoughtful, interesting, fun or challenging proposals achievable within the 3-week online residency; proposals for existing creative projects, promotional pages (portfolio or band sites) or projects relying heavily on visitor submissions are less successful, and the work should be experienceable fully from the browser. APPLICATION: statement of interest or residency proposal (max 300 words), artist statement (max 200 words), bio (max 200 words), and work samples (up to 4 links and/or a PDF of up to 10 images); brief and honest is preferred over fancy and academic. Selection is by a jury of Oulu Urban Culture staff, an Oulu artist, MoHA staff and a past resident, led by Residency Director Rachel Stuckey. HIAP's Learning Materials international residency hosts artists at HIAP Suomenlinna, the island fortress off Helsinki, for 90 days in Spring 2027 (12 April to 11 July) or Autumn 2027 (16 August to 14 November). The call suits artists with established material-based practices, socially engaged practitioners and researchers exploring ecology and materials; the residency is research-focused with no required output. DISCIPLINES: digital, visual arts, interdisciplinary and research practices. WHAT YOU GET: a working grant of EUR 1,350 per month (EUR 4,050 in total) via Kone Foundation, a material budget up to EUR 750, an access budget up to EUR 1,000, one return trip from the artist's home with slow travel encouraged and help with travel arrangements, plus accommodation and workspace. ELIGIBILITY: international artists and arts practitioners living and working outside Finland. Collectives may apply, but the working grant can be paid to one individual only and there are no extra residency fees or additional travel budget. Finland's largest private foundation moves to a single joint application round in 2026: the central fund and all 17 regional funds accept applications together from 15 to 30 October. It funds all fields of art and science, with one-year and multi-year working grants as the cornerstone alongside project grants for individuals, working groups and organisations. SCALE: around EUR 49 million awarded annually across roughly 2,100 grants (about 20,600 applications in 2025, including 165 multi-year grants); recent October rounds averaged over 450 grants of one or more years, and working grants can extend up to four years. ELIGIBILITY: Finnish nationals and people or organisations residing or working in Finland; other applicants qualify if the application demonstrates clear, strong ties to Finland or Finnish culture. HOW: apply online during the window via the foundation's grant service. DEADLINE: 30 October 2026.
The Ukraine Solidarity Residencies Programme (USRP), run by HIAP with partner residencies and supported by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture, offers residencies across Finland for professional Ukrainian or Ukraine-based artists and arts practitioners affected by the war, whether still in Ukraine or based elsewhere. WHAT YOU GET: a working grant of EUR 1,200 per month, free living and working space, one return trip from the artist's home, and a small access budget for disabled artists. HOSTS: HIAP Suomenlinna in Helsinki (families welcome), AARK in the Turku Archipelago (families welcome), Art Centre Salmela in Mantyharju, eco art residency Fairres in Porvoo, Nelimarkka Artist Residency in Alajarvi, Vartsila Art House in North Karelia (prioritises artists with families) and Gjutars Artists House in Vantaa; some hosts take up to four people including family members, and applicants state their preferred location and length in the form. ELIGIBILITY: professional Ukrainian or Ukraine-based artists and arts practitioners from all disciplines, affected by the war in Ukraine. APPLICATION: in English via the online form only (hiap.fi/usrp-application-form); professional background and current situation (up to 250 words or 2 minutes each, text, audio or video accepted) and a portfolio link of up to 10 pages or 5 minutes; access requirements can be shared confidentially. DEADLINE: 2 November 2026, 15:00 (GMT+2); jury meets in November.
make-a-thek, a Horizon Europe project (grant No. 101177660) coordinated by Fab Lab Barcelona at IAAC, connects creative spaces, public libraries and makers across Europe and beyond to share skills in circular fashion, traditional crafts and technology. Its open call runs two tracks. MOBILITY SCHEME (Track A): experienced practitioners (make-a-thek Experts) travel to an EU pilot location (Antwerp, Barcelona, Berlin, Budapest, Helsinki, Kranj, Milan, Opole, Reykjavik, Kyiv or Zaporizhzhia) to deliver a workshop, talk or hands-on training, with a EUR 1,000 stipend to support expenses. KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE PROGRAMME (Track B): learners, practitioners, makers, craftspeople and librarians travel to a 2-day in-person group meet-up (Cohort 1 in Barcelona between end of November and start of December 2026; Cohort 2 in Berlin in May 2027), then organise a local knowledge-sharing activity, with a EUR 850 stipend. Up to 12 participants per track annually. ELIGIBILITY: legal residents of EU member states, Horizon Europe associated countries, or the international pilot countries Ghana, South Africa, Indonesia, the Philippines and Chile; proposals must align with at least one focus area: Circular Fashion, Digitising Traditional Crafts, or Open Technologies.
