  2. Stimuleringsfonds: Open Call Residency Suriname 2027 (Paramaribo, Moengo, Frederiksdorp)

Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie (Creative Industries Fund NL) with local partner organisations in Suriname · Residency takes place at three locations in Suriname: Paramaribo, Moengo and Frederiksdorp. Applicants must be established in the Netherlands, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Saba, Sint Eustatius or Sint Maarten (Kingdom of the Netherlands) and registered in a business register within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. · Deadline: 21 Oct 2026 · Award: EUR 8,500 subsidy for a three-month residency, paid by the Creative Industries Fund NL. One residency position is awarded. No application fee.

The Creative Industries Fund NL (Stimuleringsfonds) is recruiting one Netherlands-based designer, architect or interdisciplinary maker for a three-month residency in 2027 across three locations in Suriname: Paramaribo, Moengo and Frederiksdorp, each with its own cultural, historical and social context. The residency is inspired by the Surinamese notion of alakondre (literally 'all countries'), which symbolises living together in cultural diversity and emphasises the power of coexisting differences. Rather than simply promoting harmony, alakondre acknowledges historical inequalities, cultural sensitivities and tensions ensuing from colonial and socio-economic realities, which demands openness and critical awareness of your position as a creative practitioner; personal stories, whether family history or questions of identity, can provide powerful entry points. A network of local partners supports the residency, and at each location a local maker selected by Surinamese partner organisations works alongside you, creating natural opportunities for creative exchange and dialogue. ELIGIBILITY: you are an individual designer, architect or spatial practitioner; you are established in the Kingdom of the Netherlands (the Netherlands, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Saba, Sint Eustatius or Sint Maarten); you are registered in the register of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) or another business register within the Kingdom of the Netherlands; and you have run a professional practice within the creative industries for at least four years. NOT open to duos, collectives or collaborative partnerships, nor to current recipients of the Talent Development Grant Scheme, the Open Call Self-taught Designer or the Open Call Emerging Design Practices ABCSSS; accepting this open call means you cannot apply to those schemes and open calls in 2027. FUNDING: EUR 8,500 subsidy for the three-month residency; one position is awarded. Assessment takes the form of a tender: an external advisory committee ranks proposals on the artistic quality of the work, the quality of the development plan and the motivation in relation to the residency's objective, and the highest-scoring proposal is awarded. Decision within eight weeks of the closing date. Submit via the Creative Industries Fund NL by 21 October 2026, 16:00 CEST.
